40 Day fight - explained

Take 40 days to "right the ship"

 40 day fight is a mental, physical, spiritual, relational and nutritional challenge.  You'll set specific targets to hit every day in the categories of physical, mental, spiritual, and nutritional health. And then you'll commit to fighting to do them for 40 days straight. 40 days is a Biblical timeframe that allows us to connect with Jesus in a unique way. It's the length of time He was tempted and fasted in the desert. It's long enough to "right the ship" and set the foundation for new habits. But it's short enough to feel like something we can accomplish.


The 40 day fight is a challenge that seeks to help you INTEGRATE these areas towards a God-honoring pursuit. 


  A few guiding scriptures:

  • Hebrews 12:1 “...Let us throw off every obstacle, and the sin which so easily entangles us. And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us!"


  • 1 Corinthians 10:19-20 - “Your body is a temple of the holy spirit, who you have from God, and that you are not your own...therefore honor God with your body.” - We use our freedom in Christ as a license to treat our bodies poorly. Can you do that? Sure. Should you? I don’t believe so, and if you’re honest you don’t believe it either.

 

  • 1 Corinthians 9:27 “I do not fight like a boxer beating the air, no, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I might not be disqualified” - pretty specifically intense language from Paul regarding the intensity with which we should pursue our calling and run our race.
