Plan your fight

Your 40 Day Fight may not be the same as someone else, and that's the best part. This plan works whether you're a veteran gym rat, or someone who just wants to be a little more active and healthy. As you're planning your challenge,  I encourage you to choose black and white metrics (for example, I will do this, I won't do this) that you have a good chance of sticking to all 40 days of the fight.  Start with small goals, and then see the power of those small victories multiplied by the consistency of the 40 days in a row.  The guidelines are outlined below, and when you sign up, you'll get a free 2 page planning worksheet emailed to you.

5 Domains - The Guidelines

Spiritual

This whole challenge is about spiritual growth. Choose something intentional that you will  do to connect your soul with Jesus all 40 days.  Maybe it's a devotion (the Guided Fight comes with daily devotionals) or Bible reading plan. Maybe you set a timer and read the Bible for 15 minutes (with your phone somewhere else).  Don’t overcommit, choose something simple that you feel will connect you with Jesus.  And pick something you'll do every day. (stay away from weekly goals, choose a daily practice) Remember, this is not extra, this is the centerpiece  of the fight.

Relational

Our relationships with our loved ones are critical to our overall health and a huge part of the 40 Day Fight. During the challenge, you'll set intentional goals to pursue real relationships. Maybe it's an extra act of service for your spouse each day, or a note of encouragement to someone you're connected to. You get to decide which of your relationships you want to focus on, and we can help with prompts and ideas of ways to pursue those you love.

Physical

Pick a few goals related to your physical health, appropriate to your level of activity now, that will challenge you, get your heart pumping and get you moving.  This can be as simple as a 30 minute walk every day. You'll also incorporate some diet-based goals for the 40 days.  Some examples might be a daily hydration goal, cutting out sugar snacks, etc. Again, I’d caution you to not overcommit. Choose a minimum expectation that you want to commit to for the full 40 days. If you decide some days to do more (and I highly recommend this) GO YOU! The point is to move everyday, and make some small, but powerful changes in your nutrition to help you develop new habits.

Mental

In the same way our diet (what ingest into our body) affects us, our mental diet (what we listen to, read, think about) does too! If we leave our minds on auto-pilot, it can be bad news. What will you read, listen to, or engage with throughout this challenge? Maybe it’s a personal growth podcast, or doing Duolingo everyday to practice Spanish. Maybe it’s fasting from social media or particular news sites. Maybe it’s learning to meditate and spending a chunk of time everyday doing that. (Be transformed by the renewing of your mind).  Same rules apply here, whatever it is, it has to be something you stick to every day for the 40 days.

Financial

Financial health is less about chasing a certain number and more about learning to trust God as

the owner and seeing ourselves as stewards of what He’s placed in our hands. In this domain, we

take small, practical steps—like creating margin, reducing unhealthy debt, and practicing regular

generosity—to bring our money in line with our values and calling. As we loosen our grip on

money and invest more in people, purpose, and God’s Kingdom, we actually experience greater

freedom, contentment, and joy. The goal isn’t having it all, but aligning what we have so our

finances serve our life with God, not the other way around.
